Cari Reed, CPDT-KA, CNWI
Cari is a professional dog trainer who has been training dogs full time for more than 15 years. She is dedicated to using positive reinforcement training and teaching owners how to effectively train their dogs and build healthy bonds and relationships with them.
Cari has been a life-long dog lover. She persuaded her family into getting her first puppy when she was 6 years old and the rest was history. Since she was always interested in behavior and learning theory, the next step was to pursue an education and career in dog training and has since dedicated thousands of hours to the field.
Because there is always something new to learn, Cari continually educates herself by researching new techniques and attending training seminars and conferences given my the most well-respected people in the dog training field such as Patrica McConnell, Kathy Sdao, and Ken Ramirez.
Cari is a native of Frederick, MD, and shares her life with her husband, twin boys, their Rhodesian Ridgeback, "Maddy" and Bassett Hound, "Elli". When she's not training, she participates with her dogs in a variety of activities including K9 Nose Work™, AKC and ASFA lure coursing, as well as many different training classes.
Sue Romano, ANWI
Sue Romano “caught the scent of nosework" in November 2009 when attending a Nose Games Class at Peaceable Paws in Hagerstown, MD where she heard about the NACSW (National Association of Canine Scent Work). In 2010, Sue attended three workshops presented by the NACSW Founders introducing her to the sport of nosework. She attended the first NACSW camp for nosework enthusiasts that same year and has been hooked ever since!
She has participated in numerous seminars taught by the founders of the NACSW™, in addition to attending seminars presented by other talented nosework instructors and trainers. Sue has attended the annual NACSW PA Nosework Camp each year since 2010 working her own dogs, Rocki, who was a collie/shepherd mix and now Jinx, a Belgian Tervuren.
Since 2011, Sue has assisted several CNWI (Certified Nose Work Instructors) in the Mid-Atlantic area instructing K9 Nosework classes based on the principles and training guide of the NACSW. Sue enjoys teaching nosework & the enjoyment it brings to dog owners as they watch their dogs playing a game where they are naturals.
Sue is currently an ANWI™(Associate Nose Work Instructor) enrolled in the NACSW™Instructor certification program and intends to complete her certification to be a CNWI at the end of the year. You can often find her volunteering at NACSW nosework trials and odor recognition tests(ORTs).
Sue has trained and competed with her own dogs in K9 Nose Work®, NADAC Agility, APDT(WCRL) & AKC Rally, & Conformation and is currently competing with Jinx in NACSW Element Specialty Trials and working on their Elite Title.
Sue is a native of Maryland & currently lives in Pennsylvania with Jinx, her Mini American Shephard, Cabot and her cat, Seeker (who funny enough, was found as a stray at a nosework seminar). Sue and Jinx love a game of frisbee or ball on land and in the water.
